Volvo Cars witnessed surging electric vehicle (EV) sales performance results for April 2024, notably in the United States (U.S.) and Canada. With sales figures increasing to 11,814 units for the aforementioned month, EVs took a 32.8% share of the results.

The sales figures in the U.S. and Canada have gone up 12.3% over the same period last year. Behind this growth lies the growing demand for EVs, where a 16.9% increase was noted compared with the same period last year. 

In the U.S., Volvo saw an increase in sales figures with 10,604 units sold. Moreover, there was an 89% jump due to plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) with EVs taking a 31.4% share and an increase of 13.2%. In terms of the top-selling model in the U.S., the XC60 was the top-seller with 3,261 units sold.

As for Canada, sales figures saw an increase with 1,210 units sold, which is a 33.7% jump compared to last year’s sales figures in the same period with EVs taking 44.3% and a remarkable 46.8% increase to the same period last year. As a result, the reported sales figure showcased a new record for Volvo. 

Michael Cottone, President of Volvo Car USA and Canada, expressed satisfaction with the company’s sales numbers in the U.S. and Canadian markets stating, “As more luxury car buyers gravitate toward Volvo we are proud to offer them a portfolio of fully electric, plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid options.”

With Volvo’s EV sales figures doing well, its plans to be fully electrified by 2030 are becoming more reachable in its path. Previously, Volvo’s EX30 contributed a big part to driving the company’s global sales figures and its anticipation in the U.S. market is aimed to make the same results through the company’s goals. From Volvo’s excellent sales performance for April 2024 due to EVs playing a major part, the company’s growing demand for EVs will elevate it further in the North American and global EV market.
